Normalize Breastfeeding!

I have been super busy and not able to blog this past week...because I am leaving on vacation today!  So excited, but after a quick facebook check this morning...I saw something that was close to my heart and I wanted to share!!

The Feminist Breeder (Blog Here) is a blogger that I LOVE, and recently her pictures on Facebook were reported, getting her suspended for seven days.

According to the Facebook Help :

"Does Facebook allow photos of mothers Breastfeeding? Yes. We agree that Breastfeeding is natural and beautiful."

She contacted them and her account was reinstated with an apology.  So she is doing a 72 hour campaign to "normalize breastfeeding" and I would like to share!

Check out the The Feminist Breeder on Facebook to support the campaign!

And so that I don't get any undeserved comments...I know a LOT of women who formula feed and that is their decision! I love breastfeeding and I do believe that is what is best for my Kennedy :D And the American Academy of Pediatrics agrees with me :

"Breastfeeding and human milk are the normative standards for infant feeding and nutrition. Given the documented short- and long-term medical and neurodevelopmental advantages of breastfeeding, infant nutrition should be considered a public health issue and not only a lifestyle choice. The American Academy of Pediatrics reaffirms its recommendation of exclusive breastfeeding for about 6 months, followed by continued breastfeeding as complementary foods are introduced, with continuation of breastfeeding for 1 year or longer as mutually desired by mother and infant. Medical contraindications to breastfeeding are rare."

and so does the World Health Organization....

"Breastfeeding is the normal way of providing young infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Virtually all mothers can breastfeed, provided they have accurate information, and the support of their family, the health care system and society at large.
Colostrum, the yellowish, sticky breast milk produced at the end of pregnancy, is recommended by WHO as the perfect food for the newborn, and feeding should be initiated within the first hour after birth.
Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond."

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Be thankful for your wonderful wonderful babies no matter what they eat :D

HP

Oh Harry Potter :D  I was just telling Mr. Lawler at brunch TODAY how I am planning on re-reading my HP books here pretty soon...and then out of the blue...I find this on my friend's blog!

1. Which wizarding school - Hogwarts, Beauxbatons or Durmstrang?
What sort of question is this? Hogwarts of course!!

2. David Yates as director or Chris Columbus?
Meh.  I like the movies.  But to be honest, I wouldn't know which director did what! I'm a book girl :D

3. What is your favorite joke from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes?
Bahaha -  definitely the Skiving Snackboxes! Treats that make you sick and able to get out of things? yes!

4. Would you put your name in for the Triwizard Tournament?
Nope.

5. Least favorite book?
I don't understand the question.

6. Least favorite film?
Not so much a least favorite...but I don't like that the last book got split into two movies...

7. Which quidditch position would you play?
Seeker.  I play to win :D

LOVE HP!

There is a giveaway going on with this link-up as well!

check out One Haole Girl for details!

This Week's Pinterest Recipes!

I have become a meal planner! We have successfully done three weeks of me searching through recipes, picking days, making our grocery list off those recipes and then ACTUALLY making the things I had set out to make!

Of course, the source of this new power of mine is Pinterest.  Thank you internet for Pinterest! This past week we got three of our dinner main courses from this magical site...and here they are:

This recipe was chosen because we have had a jar of artichokes sitting in our pantry from an impulse purchase a few months ago! It was time for them to get eaten and I am so glad they did! This chicken dish was just wonderful and I can't wait to make it again!

YUM! This recipe was SUPER easy and REALLY good! We were having some friends over for dinner and I wanted something that would make a lot (I've gotten really used to just cooking for two!). That top crust was delicious :D BUT- the leftovers...not so good.  So make sure you eat it all on day one!

This weeks WINNER! Oh. My. Goodness. The avocado sauce (with lime juice and cilantro) was just heavenly, and then adding the pepper jack cheese sauce...magic.  We also added grilled chicken to ours!

Definitely check these recipes and their home blogs out!

Ornament Wreath!

Great Sunday with my baby girl :) We went to church, then off to Farmer's Market, did some walking around a shopping center, and came home...

And THEN I locked my keys in the car.

Thankfully, I did this after I was already home AND had the baby out of the car!  Unfortunately though, I had to repeatedly call Mr. Lawler (who is working nights, thus was sleeping) till the buzzing of his cell finally woke him up to let us in.  After my schleepy husband went back to bed...i started google-ing.

I googled locksmiths, you-tube videos on how to break into cars, popping the lock with a wire hanger, and towing companies (I had read that they will unlock your car cheaper than a locksmith).  My genius decided to go with the wire hanger.  (And I called my Daddy and he gave me the go ahead!)

Eh. After ten minutes of poking at my car window, I gave up.  Called the most reasonable locksmith (that apparently can be reimbursed by our super awesome car insurance!) and he came to the rescue!

Where is this story going? Well, I had ruined a perfectly good hanger.  So -

Today's Project!
That sad, bent up and rejected hanger was given new life as my door wreath!

With the Christmas decorating that started a few days ago, I had realized we had an excess of ornaments! (Thanks Sam's Club!)

And I just started string them on :D

Starting off was a little difficult when I was trying to get the gist of how best to arrange...but it worked itself out the further I got into the project

Pinched the end of the hanger together

 and finished!

Not how I had planned my day, but it definitely worked itself out!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

The Office

I have a problem.

So. my problem isn't THAT bad..but a little over a month ago I started watching The Office.  And I am only a season away from catching up with real time! 7 seasons.  I have made it through SEVEN seasons.  Michael Scott just left for good, and I'm a little bit heart broken.  And I just love Jim & Pam. And Dwight.

It's amazing how much Miss K breastfeeds lately! We must be going through a BIG growth spurt, because she is always eating and sleeping, eating and sleeping, eating and sleeping.  Thus, I watch a lot of Netflix and knit.

I have also been working on some GREAT diy projects...but those will have to be saved for an AFTER-Christmas post :D So stay tuned!

Gah.  I love Dwight quotes. And that baby girl :)

Sleep Sweet ya'll

My Mr. Lawler

I had a gush about my baby post a few days ago, and now I feel like it is time to love on my Mr.

He is hilarious, kind and so completely full of life
He follows Jesus and actively shows his faith every single day

He loves that I want to stay home with the baby, and jumps right on board every time I start a new hobby, life ambition, career path, or protest.

He is a wonderful father to a daughter that ADORES him
He helps with Kennedy even when exhausted after a 12 hour shift so that I can squeeze in a quick shower or workout

We play. A lot. Every conversation contains laughter and every laugh brings us closer together.
We know how to fight.  If something is wrong, we talk about it, then fix it.  There have never been raised voices or harsh words said between the two of us.

He is my best friend.  He knows me and loves me for all my good qualities and for all of my faults. I couldn't ask for a more perfect match to spend my life with.

His spirit is contagious. His weirdness exudes out of him and attaches to you, and I'm all the better for it! I can only hope that I am as wonderfully strange as he is.

Did I mention he is HOT.  Gah! Those arms, eyes, and lips are my favorite things (besides Kennedy of course) to look at!

He works so hard.  From working night shift at his job, to keeping up his strength as a soldier, to exercising his mind working on his Masters Degree...the man is incredible!

I am so lucky to have found this guy and even luckier to get to spend my life with him.

I love you Mr. Lawler
Thank you for being such a great man.

How did I get so lucky?

Yours,

Mrs. Momma Lawler

My girl.

I adore my daughter.

I know that everyone loves their own children, but I am just overwhelmed daily with her awesome-ness. Each laugh, smile, fart and scooch across the floor is a miracle that I feel so lucky to get to experience with her.  The way she lays her head on my shoulder when she is tired makes my heart melt.  The look in her face when falls backwards and the way she holds her arms up to me when she wants to be held are things, I hope, I never ever (Thanks T. Swift) forget.  The big little yell she has when she has something to say, the way she tugs on her hair when she is breastfeeding, her sad little tears when something upsets her...this bebe child can do no wrong in my eyes.  (Give it a few years and I will probably retract that last part!)  I love when she tries to "latch on" to my chin and we sing songs, how we have our daily dance party in the kitchen while cooking for Daddy, and how her eyes light up when we read her books.

This is what I was meant to do.  I have never been happier and couldn't imagine my life without my Mr. and my Punkin Butt.

Mrs. Momma Lawler

Christmas in November!

I am not crazy.  But I AM decorating for Christmas at the beginning of November :D  Usually we have this awesome fun AFTER Thanksgiving, but since we are going on vacation from the middle of November till after the start of December....it's on.  To me, this makes perfect sense, because I don't want to have to decorate when we get home from our trip! YAY!  I love Christmas!

My new Winter Beanies! SnowBaby and Baby Rudolph will soon be available in my Etsy Store!

Have lots more to write about...but too excited that Mr. Lawler brought all the Christmas stuff from the basement...so I'm going to mess with that stuff during Kennedy's nap instead :D

Happy Monday!

Yours,

Mrs. Momma Lawler

Knit Knit Knit

The day after Halloween!

And I. feel. like. crap. Mr. Lawler and I have been passing a cold back and forth, and it is terrible! But last night was fun, we threw together our costumes about 15 minutes before the trick-or-treaters arrived...but I think they turned out pretty cute!

And Best Trick-or-Treater of the night was -

that is a BICYCLE!

Anyways...

I am back in the knitting game! After Miss K was born I took TOO long of a knitting hiatus...but I'm back!!  And I remember now why I love it so much.  It is my own little form of meditation.

Today and yesterday's projects?

So. I think my own kid is pretty awesome.

Do you blame me?

Happy Thursday -

Yours,

Mrs. Momma Lawler
